Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 26, 2026

Effective date: July 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how ZKtutors LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("ZKtutors," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit zktutors.com (the "Site") or use our tutoring services (the "Services"). By using the Site or Services, you agree to the practices described here. Questions? Email zoa@zktutors.com.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Contact form — your name, email address, phone number (optional), your student's first name and grade level, subject interest, and anything you include in your message. Submissions are processed for us by Formspree.
  • Newsletter signup — your email address and, optionally, your first name (also processed by Formspree).
  • Scheduling — when you book a consultation or session through Calendly, Calendly collects the information you enter there (name, email, appointment details) under its own privacy policy.
  • Tutoring relationship — if you become a client, we maintain information needed to deliver the Services: student name, grade, school subjects and curriculum details, academic goals, session notes, progress records, and the written session reports we send you.
  • Billing — payment details are handled by the payment providers we make available at booking; we do not store full payment card numbers.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site: pages viewed, approximate location (derived from IP address), device and browser type, referral source, and interactions such as clicking a booking button or submitting a form. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes this data under Google's privacy policy.
  • Server logs — like most websites, our servers record basic technical data (IP address, user agent, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.

2. How we use information

  • Respond to inquiries and schedule consultations and sessions;
  • Deliver the Services, including preparing lessons, tracking student progress, and sending session reports to parents;
  • Send administrative messages (scheduling changes, billing, policy updates) and, if you subscribed, newsletters you can opt out of at any time;
  • Operate, analyze, and improve the Site and Services;
  • Measure the effectiveness of our marketing, including conversion tracking if you arrived through an advertisement;
  • Protect the security of the Site, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for purposes unrelated to providing and marketing the Services.

3. How we share information

We share personal information only with:

  • Service providers that make the Site and Services work — currently Formspree (form processing), Calendly (scheduling), Google (analytics and advertising measurement), Zoom (video sessions), and our payment providers. Each processes data on our behalf under its own terms and privacy policy;
  • Legal recipients — if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ZKtutors, our clients, or others;
  • A successor — if ZKtutors is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer to the successor entity, which will remain bound by this policy or one materially like it;
  • Anyone you direct us to — for example, if you ask us to coordinate with your student's teacher.

4. Cookies, analytics, and your controls

The Site uses analytics cookies (described above). You can:

Our Site honors the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: when your browser sends GPC, we disable Google Analytics for your visit. We do not respond to the older "Do Not Track" signal.

5. Children's privacy

The Site is directed at parents and guardians, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site. Our tutoring students, however, are minors — and we take that seriously:

  • All information about a student (name, grade, academic details) is provided to us by, or with the consent of, the student's parent or guardian, who arranges and authorizes the tutoring;
  • During sessions, the tutor interacts with the student by live audio/video through Zoom. Sessions are not recorded except with advance parental consent;
  • We collect only the student information reasonably necessary to provide tutoring, and we do not use student information for marketing or advertising;
  • A parent or guardian may at any time review the information we hold about their student, ask us to delete it, or refuse to permit further collection by ending the Services. Email zoa@zktutors.com and we will respond promptly.

6. Data security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect personal information: encrypted connections (HTTPS) on the Site, access limited to those who need it, and reputable service providers with their own security programs. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above: inquiry records until the inquiry is resolved and for a reasonable follow-up period; client and student records for the duration of the tutoring relationship and as needed afterward for legitimate business purposes (such as tax and accounting requirements); and newsletter emails until you unsubscribe. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Access, correction, deletion — email us to request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you or your student. We will honor the request unless we are legally required to retain the data;
  • Marketing opt-out — every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, or just email us;
  • Non-discrimination — we will never penalize you for exercising a privacy right.

California residents

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the rights to know, access, correct, and delete personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. To the extent our use of analytics or advertising cookies could be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising, you may opt out using the controls described in Section 4 or by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser. To exercise any of these rights, email zoa@zktutors.com; we will verify your request and respond within the time required by law. You may designate an authorized agent to act for you.

Visitors outside the United States

The Services are offered from the United States and directed to U.S. residents. If you visit from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

9. Third-party links

The Site links to third-party sites and services (for example, Calendly and YouTube). We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; review their policies before providing information.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the current version here and update the date at the top; material changes affecting current clients will also be communicated by email. Your continued use of the Site or Services after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
