Common questions

What courses and languages do you teach?

AP Computer Science A (Java), AP CS Principles, Python, and Java — from a student's very first program through AP exam prep. If your student's school course uses something else, ask; the fundamentals transfer.

My child has never coded — is that okay?

Absolutely. Complete beginners are some of my favorite students. We start with the fundamentals and build toward projects the student actually cares about — games, tools, whatever keeps them excited to come back.

How much does computer science tutoring cost?

Computer science tutoring is $80/hr online. No subscriptions, no required packages, no hidden fees.

What's the difference between AP CS A and AP CS Principles?

AP CS A is a programming course in Java — it's the deeper, more technical of the two. AP CS Principles is a broader survey of computing ideas with lighter programming. Which is right depends on your student's goals; happy to help you decide in a free consultation.

How do online coding sessions work?

Sessions run over Zoom with screen sharing, so I see your student's code as they write it and we debug together in real time. Each lesson is 55 minutes, and parents receive a written summary afterward.

Will this actually help beyond the class grade?

That's the goal. Alongside the coursework I teach the habits of real software work: readable code, descriptive names, breaking problems into pieces. Students leave with skills that outlast the test.
